Physics department has been successfully functioning as a part of Physics and Mathematics faculty on continuous training of specialists in this branch since the university foundation in 1944. The first head of Physics department in 1945 was M.Z Zhylkybaev. In the position of heads of the department were F.Polatbekov, S.M. Mukhtarov, A.N. Zhananova, U.Zh. Zhadraev, G.E.Egizbaeva, A.T. Akylbekov, A.Zh.Zhamalov, A.K.Ershina, U.Parmanbekov.
From 1992 to 2007 – the head of Physics department was doctor of technical sciences, professor A. Zhamalov.
In 2007-2011 – the head of the department was doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor A.K Ershina.
In 2011-2015 – the head of the department was candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor U. Parmanbekov.
Since 2015 the chair of physics is headed by candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor E. Tasbolat.
Qualified specialists work at the department of Physics. Nowadays 2 doctors of physical and mathematical sciences, 1 doctor of sciences, 5 candidates of science, 8 masters of physics and senior teachers work at the department. Among them: doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor, owner of the grant “The best teacher of the university” A.K. Ershina, owner of the award “Kurmet”, doctor of technical sciences, professor A.Zh.Zhamalov, honorary education worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, associate professor N.I. Ilyasov, owner of the breastplate “Y. Altynsarin” candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor G. Tugelbayeva and professor of the Russian Academy candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor N.A.Sandibaeva.
In the educational process, the department of Physics intensively uses laboratories in methodology of teaching general physics, theoretical physics, radio electronics, and physics. In addition, there are classrooms equipped with computers and interactive whiteboards. They are fitted up with necessary equipment, scientific and methodical literature.
Teachers of the department conduct research work to determine the need for applying methodological ideas in teaching physics methodology and realizing theoretical bases. In particular, doctor of technical sciences, professor A.Zhamalov won a research project on the theme “Creation of bivalent hydroelectric power station for independent users”.
Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor A.K. Ershina was a responsible research associate in the project “Development of wind installations of rotary type with high technical and economic rates” (2012-2014) and “Alternative sources of energy ” (1.09.2011 – 1.09.2012)
In the laboratory “Unconventional energy sources” of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, she passed an annual training on the international scholarship “Bolashak”of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The department was awarded with diploma “Golden department of Russia” (№00745) of 21.01.2011. The department has good relations with foreign countries. Teachers of the department published scientific articles at international conferences and symposiums in the cities of Plock, Krakow (Poland), Hammamet (Tunisia), Yerevan (Armenia), Moscow, Sochi, Saratov (Russia), Kiev (Ukraine), Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic), Bulgaria (Sunny Beach).
The department has concluded scientific agreement with the Kyrgyz state technical university named after I. Razakov, the Latvian state institute and the Institute of solar energy in Uzbekistan.
On April 11, 2012 within the framework of the 70th anniversary of the candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor N.I. Ilyasov an Olympiad among students- physics was held. The winners of the Olympiad were awarded diplomas.
On 02-16 April 2012, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of Doctor of technical sciences, professor A.Zh.Zamalov, the head of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I.Razakov professor Obozov Alaibek held a master class on the topic “Renewable Energy Sources” for the students of 1 and 4 courses on specialty 5B011000 – Physics and for undergraduates on specialty 6M011000 – Physics.
In 2014, the laureate of the State Prize in the field of science and technology, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine, doctor of technical sciences Basok Boris Ivanovich delivered a lecture.
In October 2015, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor P. Parmanbekov received the medal named after “Y. Altynsarin “, doctor of technical sciences, professor A. Zhamalov was awarded the order “Kurmet”.
Republican scientific-practical conference “Methodological problems of teaching natural sciences and modern pedagogical innovative technologies”, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the candidate of pedagogical sciences, professor Nizan Ilyasov was held on May 15, 2017. Professor of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay G. Alimbekova, a graduate of professor N. Iliasov, who graduated from the university in 1975, as well as professors and doctors of sciences Z. Zhanabayev, K. Mukashev of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi expressed gratitude at the scientific-practical conference.
Goals and objectives of the department’s teaching staff: quality education, innovative methods of training, training of qualified, competitive professionals with the use of scientific achievements, publication of textbooks and teaching aids for secondary and higher education institutions, contribution to the development of science and education in our sovereign country.
