Preparation for the traditional format of education: What conditions are created for students at the University?

    • Preparation for the traditional format of education: What conditions are created for students at the University?

ALMATY. September 14. Press center –  Starting from September 18, the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University announces the settlement of students in a dormitory and studying in an offline format. How was the preparation for the new academic year carried out at the country's flagship teacher training institution? What conditions are created at the university for students? We bring to your attention a specially prepared material.

According to the official representative of the university – the head of the Department of Marketing and Communication Zhandar Asan, during the preparatory work for the traditional format, strict adherence to all sanitary standards and requirements was taken into account.

This unique educational institution, which was opened during the difficult times of World War II, in 1944, occupies an invaluable place in the training of teaching staff in our country. Indeed, during this period thousands of kazakh girls from all corners of our vast republic, especially from rural areas, graduated from this university.

Today, about 7 thousand students study at the university under the educational programs of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral studies.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University, like other universities, switched to a distance-learning format. Starting this academic year, we are returning to the traditional teaching format. In this regard, the university started preparatory work.

      - First of all, online meetings were organized to answer the main questions of interest to all university students and their parents: "How will the new academic year be organized?", "How is the process of settling in a hostel going?”. We believe that students from all institutes took part in it and they received comprehensive information. This explanatory work is carried out both in institutes and in departments, - noted Zhandar Asan.

Today, all buildings of the university fully comply with the sanitary and epidemiological requirements. Sanitary safety measures in hostels and student houses are provided as much as possible. The university has an adequate supply of disinfectants for cleaning premises and washing hands.

At the entrance to educational buildings and dormitories, non-contact thermometers are installed to measure body temperature, as well as disinfection tunnels. The buildings are cleaned several times a day.

To guarantee the non-proliferation of coronavirus infection and increase safety, the «Ashyq» application has been launched on the territory of the educational institution.

      - Now a special plate with a QR code of the “Ashyq” application, teachers, staff, and students should scan it and show the result to the examiner. We have our reasons to implement this pilot project at the university. First, it is to contain the spread of the virus among employees and students of the university, - said Zhandar Asan.

According to him, in the new academic year at the university lectures and large ongoing classes will be conducted online through the Microsoft platform Teams. During the lectures, 50% of the groups will study online, 50% - offline. The subject "Physical culture" - will be held after school hours. In case of illness of 1 student in the group, quarantine is declared and the whole group goes online. Regardless of the format of studying, students must complete all tasks in the disciplines posted in their personal account.

      - Of course, for teaching students in a traditional format, first of all, sanitary and epidemiological requirements must be strictly observed. A lot of work has been done here. To date, more than 90% of our staff and teachers have received the first or second vaccine component. 83% of students are already vaccinated. In the future, explanatory work on the importance of receiving a vaccine will be continued, - the university’s official representative emphasized.

To maintain social distance, special signs were installed between students, starting from the entrance to the building and ending with benches in classrooms and libraries. Antiseptics and information banners are placed on each floor and in the classrooms.

The university's scientific library has also developed an algorithm for issuing books to students. This academic year, the scientific library is ready to optimally provide textbooks, teaching aids to students of five institutes.

      - It is important to note that in the 2021-2022 academic year, the educational process at the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University will be carried out offline and online format. Offline studying is open to 1st-year students who have received both components of the vaccine (age 18 and older), students of 2, 3, 4 courses who have received both components of the vaccine, students with the status of “blue” or “green” status, - said Zhandar Asan.

Another point requiring attention is that in the 2021-2022 academic year students who have received both components of the vaccine, orphans, children left without parental care, children from large and low-income families, children with disabilities, and students not included in the above-mentioned risk group can live in dormitories of the university.

Thus, the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University is fully ready to organize studying in a traditional format. The main issue is ensuring the safety of students, as well as systematic studying.
