About the Department
The department was formed in April 1992 and was called Computer science and Computer Engineering. The first head of the department was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Baymakhan Rysbek (1992-1998). In connection with the expansion of the department in 1996-2000, the department received a new name Mathematics and Computer science, and in 2000-2007 - Computer science. In 2007, according to the order on making changes to the structure of the university (No. 109, 24.08.2007), the name of the Department was renamed to the Department of Informatics and Applied Mathematics. In 1998-2001, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Eskaliev Murat, in 2001-2002 Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Boribayev Bakhyt, in 2002-2005 Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Kenesbaev Serik, in 2005-2020 Ph.D., professor Salgaraeva Gulnaz, from 2020 to the present, the programme leader of the department is master of Pedagogical Sciences, senior lecturer Iliyasova Gulayim.
According to the results of the rating of the University in 2011-2016, the Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics took 1st place and was awarded the title of "BEST DEPARTMENT".
Today, the department is staffed by winners of the republican competition "The best teacher of the university", such as R.B.Baimakhan, S.A.Issayev, G.I.Salgarayeva, A.E.Sagymbaeva, N.Kurmanbekkyzy.
According to the results of the rating research conducted by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating among higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the specialty 5B011100 – «Computer science» in 2015 took the 2nd place, and in 2016-2018 the 1st place, the specialty 6B01506-«Computer science»in 2019 also took the honorable 1st place.
Professor of the department S.A. Issayev is the owner of the medal "For Labor Distinction" of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor R.B.Baimakhan is the owner of the badge "For Contribution to Science" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor M.E. Eskaliev and G.I.Salgarayeva were awarded the badge "Honorary Worker in Education" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, S.A. Issayev and G.I.Salgarayeva are holders of the gold badge "Ulagat" of the University. In 2019, G.I.Salgarayeva was awarded a badge for her great contribution to the development of the country's higher education system and fruitful work in administrative management, and she was awarded the title of "Best Manager" in the field of higher and postgraduate education.
The mission of the Department of Computer science and Applied Mathematics is the preparation of highly qualified teachers and teachers in the specialty "Informatics", as well as masters and doctoral students of education, masters of natural science in the direction of "Informatics", a way of applying modern scientific achievements in the field of information technologies and pedagogical technologies in education.
The department is actively developing international relations to enter the world educational space. Currently, the department collaborates with scientists from Riga Technical University (Latvia), Yamaguchi University (Japan), University of Alberta (Canada), London Academy of Management and Sciences (UK), Nigde University (Turkey), Silesian University in Katowice (Poland) and the Mississippi Valley State University (USA). The main areas of cooperation with foreign partner universities are: advanced training of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department, exchange of students and teachers on academic exchange programs, joint research and conferences.
Every year, in order to exchange experience on the program of academic mobility, foreign scientists are invited to the department. For example, in different years, the following professors were invited to deliver lectures and conduct a master class to students and undergraduates:
- In April 2012, Professor of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, Doctor of Pedagogy MaciejKlyaklya;
- in October 2012, Professor at the University of Albert (Canada) Dr. Dave Chan;
- in November 2014, Professor of the University of Nigde (Turkey), Dr. Murat Alp;
- in November 2018, Professor at Yamaguchi University (Japan) Hiodo Masayuki;
- in November 2019, Professor of the Riga Technical University, Doctor of Engineering Sciences Chaiko Elena.
On the basis of an agreement between the London Academy of Management and Sciences in the 2013-2014 academic year, 5 students of the specialty 6В01506- "Computer science" were trained under the academic mobility program in London, and in the next academic year 4 of them received a double-diploma education at the university of the same name.
On the basis of an agreement with the University of Silesia in Katowice, 6 students of the specialty 6B01506 – “Computer science” and 1 student of the specialty 6B01506 - “Computer science” were trained in Poland.
On the basis of an agreement between the Mississippi Valley State University, undergraduate student of the specialty 7M01503 - "Computer science" Sabit Botakoz completed academic mobility training in the United States in the 2014-2015 academic year and at the end of the 2015-2016 academic year completed a full course under the double-degree program and became the owner of two diplomas. universities.
In the period from September to December of the 2018-2019 academic year, 10 students of the Computer Science specialty were trained under the academic mobility program on the basis of an agreement with the Western International College in London (Western International College, England).
