The Department of "Social and Humanitarian Disciplines" of Kaznatszhenpu has its own history of formation and development. It was founded in 1944 as the Department of Scientific Communism. Over the many years of the university's existence, the department has changed its name several times.
The department was headed by Ph. D., Associate Professor Iskakov A. I., Ph. D., Tangaev S. D., Ph. D., Musagaliev T. M., Ph. D., Academician of the National Academy of Sciences Nysanbayev A. N. After the Independence of Kazakhstan, the department was transformed and was named the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines.
At the present stage, the department takes an active part in all cultural events of the university. Since 2013, the Faculty of the department annually conducts a scientific seminar dedicated to the Day of the First President.
Students of the specialties "6B03101-Sociology" and "6B11401-Social Work" of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines annually participate and take prizes in the Republican subject Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.In 2020, at the XII Republican Student Subject Olympiad, students of the specialties "6В03101-Sociology" and "6В11401-Social work" won 2 prizes. Also, the team "Lashyn", which represented our university at the Republican Olympiad in cultural studies among the universities of the republic "Abay-a model of national identity", dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayuly, held at the Pavlodar State University named after Abay.S. Toraighyrova won the 3rd prize.
Explanation of the main provisions of the "Address of the President to the People of Kazakhstan" is the most important part of the educational work of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines.
One of the partners of the department in the educational process is the State University of the Mississippi Valley, USA. At the invitation of the university administration, Professor, PhD, Dr. Kathy Golden annually gives lectures to students of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines. The lectures of the professor from the United States include social work technologies along with international relations and social trends in the world.
In November 2020, the department organized a seminar "Personality.Cognition.Creativity" held an international conference dedicated to the memory of Professor S. I. Ospanov. The conference was attended by well-known scientists from Germany and Nigeria and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
