RARE ANCIENT BOOKS FROM THE EARLY XIX CENTURY ARE KEPT AT THE UNIVERSITY IN ALMATY

Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University wants to open its own museum, Khabar 24 reports. The rarest artifacts - ancient books of the early XIX century - have been stored there for a long time. Unfortunately, at present only teachers, students and guests of the university have access to the museum. The bibliographic collection includes the originals of such editions as the multivolume book "The Journey of the Younger Anaharsis" by the researcher Andrei Rudolsky.

The first volume of this historical work on ancient Greece was published in 1808. It was originally written in French, then translated into Russian. The author dedicated his work to the Russian Emperor Alexander I.

The oldest copy in the university's collection is considered to be a copy of the first Russian literary encyclopedia "The Experience of Historical Dictionary of Russian Writers", which dates back to 1772.

It is worth noting that the library of the Women's Teacher Training University is considered one of the largest in Kazakhstan. There are more than a million books in its funds, and rare copies in the collection - more than 400.

Asem Otegenova, Director of the Library of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University:

      - Our university has a unique collection of ancient books. They are in our museum. And we have such a wish that they were available for all Kazakhstan, because these are unique artifacts, starting from the XVII century. We have an idea that visitors at the same time familiarize themselves with our heritage, with the history of our university.
