      An international song contest dedicated to Shamshi will be held

       ALMATY. December 22. Press center – This year marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of Shamshi Kaldayakov, a veteran of the nation's art, one of the founders of today's Kazakh pop music and a unique composer, People's Artist of Kazakhstan. An international song contest will be held to honor the name of the legendary composer and revive his works.

      Talented students from Kazakhstan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Russia will take part in the online art competition organized by the Women's University and perform live the musical works of the «King of the Kazakh Waltz».

      As a rule, gardeners have to sing two songs. The first should be accompanied by a variety, folk ensemble or orchestra, and the second in the form of a cappella.

      The jury, consisting of well-known cultural figures and qualified specialists, will pay special attention to the participant's choice of song, behavior, taste in choosing clothes, performance skills and music.

      The festival will start live on December 23 at 12:00 on the official YouTube channel of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University. The organizer of the competition is the Institute of Arts and Management.

      – Our goal is to promote the work of the composer at the international level, to educate the younger generation in the moral spirit on the basis of his works. One of the tasks of the festival is to improve the performance skills of young people participating in the competition, to strengthen their art, to raise their stage culture, – say the organizers of the event.

      More than 300 melodies of Shamshi, which roamed the vast steppes of Kazakhstan, have inspired several generations.

      The composer's songs «Ak erke – Ak Zhaiyk», «Arys zhagasynda», «Syr suluy», «Teriskey», «Karkaraly», «Omir ozen», «Ana turaly zhyr» were received with great interest.

      The songs «My Kazakhstan», «In the arms of happiness», «Wedding in Otyrar», «You are the most beautiful» were also popular.

      In 1991, a biographical documentary about Shamshi «My years, my songs» was made, and a collection of memoirs and articles «Shamshigumyr» was published.
