ALMATY. October 21. Press Center – From January next year, Kazakhstani first graders will begin to teach digital literacy.

«The curriculum must meet the demands and requirements of the time. Today, digital literacy is becoming one of such basic skills as reading and writing. Therefore, it is important to teach children the basics of digital literacy, digital hygiene and information security as early as possible. Of course, the new subject will be adapted taking into account the age of the children», explained Gulmira Karimova, The Chair of the Preschool and Secondary Education Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The ministry also revised the curriculum for the subjects "Information and Communication Technologies" for grades 4 and "Informatics" for grades 5-11. The instructions, as noted in the Ministry of Education and Science, are aimed at ensuring that children receive high-quality and relevant knowledge in the field of information technology.
