      ALMATY. FEBRUARY 18. PRESS CENTER – The development of students' creative abilities plays an important role in the formation of the professional competencies of future specialists. For this purpose, a contest of essays on the topic «Why I want to be a teacher?» was organized among the students of QyzPU. Today there was an awarding ceremony of winners of this creative competition.

      The ceremony was opened by Gulmira Qanay, the Chair of the Managing Board – Rector of the University, who thanked the students who participated in the competition.

      – The main purpose of the essay contest on the topic «Why do I want to be a teacher?» is to raise the status of the teacher among future professionals, the development of creative, research, and thinking abilities of students. The fact that you want to take part in such creative competitions speaks for itself. Honest service to society is the duty of every citizen. In this case, the burden of responsibility lies on you, the future teachers. We wish everyone good luck, – said Gulmira Qanay.

      The head of the university also made a special report on the specifics of the essay genre, the purpose, and the order of its writing.

      Yedilbay Ospanov, candidate of philological sciences, author of «Essay and its types» and «Academic writing» presented his work and highlighted the main features of the book. He also made a presentation to the students on «Essays: Mastery and Harmony».

      It is well known that different assignments are used to test a student orally and in writing. In this regard, writing essays is widely used in higher education to find out how much knowledge the student has absorbed, whether he has grasped the topic, his views on the topic. The most important thing is that the essays should be written in an academic direction. When writing an academic essay, the author should systematically state his position, ideas, give arguments for her opinion, said Yedilbay Ospanov.

      According to him, the main requirement of the essay is to analyze, describe and evaluate a topic or a problem, and the main purpose is to demonstrate your knowledge of the topic and convince the reader of the correct answer to the question posed.

      During the event, the experts also shared their opinions on the evaluation criteria for the works submitted to the competition. In particular, doctor of philological sciences, professor Mereke Atabayeva, director of the Institute of Kazakh language and world languages QyzPU Aynur Suranchina spoke about the issues that must be solved during the inspection and evaluation of works.

      By the decision of the special jury the work of Symbat Shaldarbek, the 2nd-year student of the specialty «Special Pedagogy» was acknowledged as the best.

      Second place was awarded to Shahsanem Aralbayeva and Aruzhan Kulbayeva, 2nd-year Biology major students.

      The third place was taken by Saniya Adyrbay, the 2nd-year student of the specialty «Defectology», Sayazhan Aimuhambetova, the 2nd-year student of the specialty «Biology» and Nazerke Mukash, the 4th-year student of the specialty «Kazakh language and literature in schools with the non-Kazakh language of instruction».

      Winners were awarded diplomas and special prize of Chair of the Managing Board – Rector of QyzPU University.

      Works of 10 students who have shown the best results were also marked and they were given special thanks.

      It should be noted that 164 students took part in the competition. The best works will be published on the official website of the university and in the media.
